Quaqtaq Airport

This project consisted of expanding and resurfacing the airport's runway, traffic lane, and apron. In addition, measures to mitigate the effects of permafrost were undertaken, as well as updating the airport's signalling and various pieces of equipment.

The details of the work involved are as follows:

• Rock excavation (bedrock blasting) and backfilling
• 3,000 metres of ditch shaping and rock ballast (12,000 m²)
• Installation of culverts and fences
• Use of 16,000 tonnes of crushed stone to resurface the airport runway
• Base for a road leading to the cemetery bordering the runway;
• Runway signage and lighting
• Mitigation and protection against permafrost
